Logo creation – the inspiration
I knew creating a logo would be difficult. I’ve always loved to change things around a lot, but in the world of marketing and branding, your logo shouldn’t change too much too often. I wanted my pay homage to my late grandfather, who also had a simple signature back in the day, and came up with this runic inspired mash up of my initials.
I’ve always been enamored with my first initial “V”, and decided to also add the “J” for my last name. Two simple letters, which flow well together. And of course, I’ve carved the image in lino and printed it for that rustic, homemade feel. The inspiration drawn from runes and ancient lettering is a subtle nod to my scandinavian roots.
How will I know, if I’ll love it always?
With my ever changing mood and taste, I don’t know if I’ll love this branding always. But because of the simplicity and personal significance, I believe I will – if not, I can always make a subtle change, and hopefully still retain the feel.
From a marketing perspective it can either be much better og much worse to change your logo throughout the lifetime of your business. But if your business is ever changing, your logo should reflect those changes as well – just my two cents. How was your process when creating your brand?
